The BBQ team behind the Park’s Finest is launching a Southern-inspired bar, Thunderbolt, right next door

TimeOut Los Angeles

Opening day draws near as Thunderbolt prepares its cocktails, brisket, biscuits and music. Publicity is growing as talk-of-the-town Thunderbolt looks to bring a clubhouse to the neighborhood alongside a casual and welcoming atmosphere.

Drinks at Thunderbolt are a feature – they aren’t your run-of-the-mill cocktails. One special craft by Mike Capoferri, beverage lead, uses vegan aquafaba in lieu of egg white, while still retaining the foam and volume sought after in the sour drink. If a peachy mojito is up your alley, the Thunderbolt special is another great drink sure to satisfy.

Alongside the bar are delicious southern-inspired snacks including burnt ends, pimento cheese and peach butter. The team at Thunderbolt takes large inspiration from the next-door Park’s Finest for great BBQ – although each piece of food on the menu is entirely exclusive to Thunderbolt.

“The space really represents the kind of vibe we’ve been waiting for,” says Concordia. “Lightning struck with us [at Park’s], to be a destination around the world for not only the Filipino community but foodies in general. We were lucky enough to have lighting strike, having [Park’s] going on eight years here, 10 years as a business. Maybe lightning strikes twice.
